Yoni steams is not a new trendy spa treatment. This holistic ritual has been used in many ancient cultures for centuries, yet it still remains under the radar in the mainstream beauty world. It is very well known that facial steams are very beneficial and luxurious, these same benefits extend to Yoni steaming but better.
Monthly Yoni steaming was life changing for me physically, emotionally and sexually! When you sit over the steaming bowl, the medicinal properties of the botanicals are carried by warm steam through the vagina up the cervix and into the uterus reaching the entire reproductive system. Thus helping to sloth off old dried blood, clots, yeast, bacteria, and stagnant qi. Steams are becoming increasing popular for its incredible healing powers with post birth recovery, but there is more benefits than just balancing the physical structure of the vagina.
Steams have also been historically used as a spiritual and emotional healing practice. There is an old saying that says "The womb holds all the wisdom" Its no coincidence that when you have a yeast infection or UTI that your mind is scattered and irritable because our emotions and thoughts are directly connected with our wombs, and when there is an imbalance it arises in both physical and emotional realms. Therefore, steaming can help make a difference in your mental health as well. Many women who regularly practice steaming, report feeling an increase in energy, clarity, creative and overall boosted emotional wellbeing.

How do you steam?
You can steam anyway that is most comfortable and relaxing to you. Traditionally, you would cushion the ground and kneel over your steaming bowl in a seated position, leaning forward with arms out on ground for stabilization, similar to Childs Pose,
The modern method steaming includes using a steaming bowl that conveniently inserts on your toilet seat. You place your prepared steeped steam in the bowl. When the steam is at a tolerable temperature, you sit on your (clean) toilet allowing the steam to permeate the yoni for 10-20 minutes.
I like to make a ritual out of it! I first clean the bathroom really good, play some good music or sound bath, incense burning, candles, a book, or just sit in silence and focus on your breath, etc and make it an entire vibe out of it.
Step by Step Instructions:
- Boil 2 cups of water
- Add 3-4 Tablespoons of herbal blend into steaming bowl.
- Pour boiling water over and let steep for 10 minutes
- TEST heat tolerance by placing inner forearm over the steam, if it is too hot for your inner arm its too hot for delicate skin.
- Once its tolerable, either place bowl on the ground and kneel over OR place bowl on toilet seat and sit on toilet for 10-20 minutes.
- For best results wrap yourself in robe or blanket to trap steam inside
- Be mindful! Focus on breath and intentions
